Well we’ve got some really exciting things going on now with the house with the installation of some stunning features. It seems like a long time between posts but the process of making each and every one of these features is time consuming. I really appreciate the team for putting all the effort in that they do…such artists! I love love love every thing about this house!
This is a maple live edge slab that we incorporated onto the counter in the basement. It’s on the side of the dining room and faces over into the family media room. I think I found some great stools to go with the look, they are simple polished nickel round stools that match the light fixture and table base. I haven’t pictured them until I decide for sure but there will be more photos to come.
This isn’t the actual furniture I’m putting in this room but because we sold our other house and are moving into the basement, we put our upstairs furniture in here to live with while the upstairs is completed. Should be another 60 days or so!
The other exciting addition was the install of these stunningly beautiful rustic beams put in the master bedroom. They are from a 100 year old building salvaged in Manitoba, all hand hewn with incredible personality, patina and complete with the worm holes. The crew does a treatment wherein they are cleaned with a spinning brush instrument. Then they were clearcoated to seal and bring out those wonderful colour tones. I can’t stop going upstairs just to admire them over and over.
That’s the current status! There’s lots going on though with tiling in the basement kitchen, installation of sound systems, satellite television and internet. The closets are being constructed and the carpet is going in on Monday next week. Officially July 8th will be our move in date and I can’t wait!
