Shop Opening

Good day everyone! I’ve been working on our shop space at our acreage and it’s almost completed! I couldn’t be more enthusiastic! It’s so wonderful to have a space at my home that I can be creative doing what I love to do and also offer a space for my friends and followers to come and enjoy at their leisure. I haven’t determined yet what kind of hours to keep…maybe some feedback on what would be suitable would be great! I was thinking a couple of Sundays per month, or maybe a weekday and a Sunday? I don’t get a lot of feedback on my blog, I have to say I don’t spend a lot of time on the blog and have considered putting it on the shelf for now. With instagram, Facebook, website and work it’s difficult to keep the blog going and maybe it’s just not for me…? Not sure but I’ll come up with a plan.

The real purpose of this note is to invite all my followers to my grand opening on June 17th to come on down to see what I have to offer, to share in some fun, and of course surround yourself with beautiful furnishings, vintage finds and like minded gals! Hope the day is sunny and warm 🙂 Looking forward to see you!!

Adding Some Wooden Details

I just received an order I placed long ago for some wooden appliqués for the headers on the windows in the house! It was a long, long process as I accidentally sent to the wrong address and they were returned, rerouted and then remailed….omg I had to pay a fortune to get them here, but I’m so relieved they arrived.
The large one is going on the fireplace and the others over the windows in the living room and dining room. All the casings and trims are now ready….we painstakingly raised the grain, applied a combination of stain and paint finish and a clear topcoat and they look sooooo incredible! The appliqués will get the same finish and blend right in…at least that’s the plan 🙂 Will post photos of the finished areas once they are done which should be in a few weeks.

Sunroom Progress

I’m so excited….beyond words, to see the sunroom come together! We’ve had several people over and word is getting around about our project. Local designers, home builders and other business people have dropped in to see first hand what we are doing and how it is being done. The ceiling and beams in the loft and sunroom are the highlight right now. A collaboration between myself and Rick Rempel (our design/artist extraordinare) came up with a “recipe” for the treatment and finishing steps to make a truly beautiful old world finish. We have a winning team! Of course, shortly after we were like little kids because we couldn’t wait to put the lighting up and see the effect!
